Exploring the Beauty and Charm of Colorado Springs
Our recent trip to Colorado Springs was packed with stunning views, outdoor adventure, and charming mountain towns. From the towering majesty of Pikes Peak to the quirky magic of Manitou Springs, the cascading waters of Seven Falls, and the historic charm of Olde Town Arvada, we soaked in everything this region has to offer. Here's a peek into our unforgettable adventure.

Where We Stayed: Kinship Landing
We made our home base at the Kinship Landing Hotel, a boutique stay that nails the perfect modern mountain vibe. From the moment we arrived, the cozy atmosphere and stylish common spaces set the tone for our trip. One of our favorite nooks featured a leather sofa, bold textiles, and a dramatic stacked wood wall — it felt like the lobby of a dream cabin getaway.
We stayed in a dog-friendly family suite that was just right for our crew. It featured four awesome bunk beds, a comfortable main bed, and a very convenient extra half bath. With its thoughtful design and relaxed atmosphere, it was the ideal retreat between our outdoor adventures.
Pikes Peak: America’s Mountain
We kicked things off with one of Colorado’s most iconic landmarks — Pikes Peak. Whether you drive, hike, or take the cog railway, the journey is every bit as memorable as the summit itself. At over 14,000 feet, the peak offers panoramic views of the Rocky Mountains and far beyond. The kids loved watching paddleboarders glide across Crystal Reservoir with the snowy peaks towering in the background — a postcard moment we’ll never forget.
Manitou Springs: Mineral Magic and Mountain Charm
After the high-altitude adventure, we headed into Manitou Springs, a delightfully artsy town nestled at the base of the mountains. Known for its historic natural mineral springs, Manitou invites you to sip from beautifully sculpted fountains scattered throughout town. The kids had fun tasting the various spring waters (with very mixed reviews!) and exploring the local arcades, shops, and candy stores. The town is full of color and character, and we found ourselves lingering longer than expected.
Seven Falls: Nature’s Staircase
One of the most memorable hikes of the trip was at Seven Falls. This breathtaking series of waterfalls cascades down a box canyon surrounded by towering granite cliffs. The 224-step staircase alongside the falls was a bit of a workout, but the views from the top made it completely worth it. For those who prefer a scenic stroll, the base area is just as lovely. We spent time taking photos, walking the trails, and simply enjoying the sound of rushing water echoing through the canyon.
Olde Town Arvada: A Charming Finish
Though it’s a bit outside of Colorado Springs, we ended our trip with a relaxing afternoon in Olde Town Arvada. This walkable, historic district is full of vintage storefronts, local coffee shops, and artisan boutiques. String lights hang over the streets, giving the whole place a warm and welcoming feel. After several action-packed days, it was the perfect spot to slow down, grab a bite, and reflect on our trip.
Final Thoughts
Colorado Springs and its surrounding towns offer a beautiful balance of natural wonders and small-town charm. From snow-capped peaks to charming mineral springs and cozy boutique lodging, every stop on our trip added something special. If you're looking for a family getaway that blends the outdoors with comfort and character, this region should definitely be on your list.
